happy mothers day,
Is it now the second Sunday of May? The Mother's Day! I think so because my only sister greeted me in the very early morning today. Thanks to you and hubby for the warmth morning kiss and greetings! Now, I ask my self why can't we make each day as Mother's Day? Few years back as I joggled my memory, I didn't hear anyday of the year as such Mother's Day celebration or am I such a busy gal who didn't care about any kind of celebration. I have kids now but I don't think my kids right now are into this so called Mother's Day celebration just like me I was before I guess. They're just busy doing things right now that interest and amuse them. In short, they don't bother at all. But each day of my life, I always valued the presence of my mother. Why? Because she's the only person in my life that has done more than anyone in the world. She's always present in my thoughts each day. Make each day as Mother's Day by thinking your mom everyday. Saying this makes tears to roll upon my cheeks! Gosh, feeling emotional this time but it's really true. As I did a little research, it was in 1914 that Woodrow Wilson in United States signed a proclamation designating Mother's Day to be held on the second Sunday of May as a national holiday to honor mothers. Did you hear about Anna Jarvis? Well, to many I think including myself it's my first time to hear her name. In 1908 , modern holiday of Mother's Day was first celebrated when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mom at St. Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. The St. Andrew's Methodist Church currently holds the International Mother's Day Shrine. Since then, Mother's Day holiday spanned across the globe and celebrated by many countries including us here in Philippines . In celebration of Mother's Day, the founder insisted that people should appreciate and honor their mothers through handwritten letters expressing their love and gratitude, instead of buying gifts and pre-made cards. I think in whatever means we think of to thank our mom for all she did, she will appreciate it with all of her heart. What she really wants is her children to love and respect her. That's what I want too from my children. That's the priceless gift we can offer to her! But its our own will to delight her with material gifts just to highlight the occasion. Give her whatever you can afford, send her flowers, date her, travel with her to place she longs to visit or simply kiss her with warm hug while saying "Happy Mother's Day, Ma!". Happy Mother's Day to all Moms / Mommies / Nanays / Mamas !
